For lead vocalist Face Balian; Hip-Hop is my favorite genre. I really like the delivery of the lyrics and the way other genres can be blended with it.
Tell us your experience as a musician/rapper.
I started writing short stories at a young age, which eventually turned to writing lyrics. I formed a rap group in high school. I later co-founded a Hip-Hop Jam band in Arizona. I am currently the lead vocalist for Soul Chalice. Some notable venues I have performed are the Whisky A Go-Go, Alice Cooperstown, and The Far Out Festival.

Reflection and being present in the moment… Look inside of yourself, know who you are, and be the best version of yourself.

Besides releasing more albums, I plan on writing and publishing a couple of books, and owning some businesses.
Elaborate on how you think your music is inspiring your fans.
My music is about overcoming depression. I have suffered from depression most of my life. Besides professional therapy, writing has been very therapeutic for me. I would like anyone that is in a dark place to know that there can be a brighter day and that working through and processing trauma is worth it.
Analyze the transformations you have discovered so far in the music industry.
The music industry has transformed from a physical product to a streaming product for the most part. You can even stream live concerts today.
Elaborate on how you develop your lyrics.
When I am developing a new song I usually like to start from scratch. Most times it starts with a feeling or a clever line. I will record a rough draft if I am not with the band… I will listen for flaws and make adjustments from there. Most times I am able to do this process with the band during rehearsal. I will write and rewrite repeatedly, perfecting it every time we play it.
Tell us if you enjoy collaborating with other artists or just singing as a solo artist.
I love collaborating with other artists. I have always loved a live sound and instruments and I believe that goes perfectly with my style. I always wanted to jam with musicians instead of just playing a backing track to my vocals.
Brief us your opinion on making music that makes people dance or making the music with a genuine message that inspires them.
Lyrics are very important to me. I believe in the art of storytelling and having a message. To me, that is some of the best music. I also believe in making people feel good and dance. I believe our music does both.
Elaborate on how you develop your melody and instrumentation.
Usually, one of the bandmates will have an idea and present it to the rest of the guys. Then each will add a different piece until we have a concept. Once we have a basic concept I will write a chorus or hook to make it a song.

Dan Ridgely recorded drums, bass, and guitars at Ridgely Manor Studio. He played the drums first then the bass and guitar. From that point, we recorded vocals and keys at Sound Pitch Entertainment Studios.

We have enough original material to fill a standard set… We love performing but had to take a break from it because of COVID-19 and the recording of this album. We are looking forward to getting back to it very soon.

Dan Ridgely came up with the name Soul Chalice. A chalice is a container. Each member of the band brings a different aspect to the music we collectively create. We feel our music comes from the soul.

Look Inside: It means to look in the mirror, know who you are, and go after the things you want in this life.

‘Enter The Game’ is the title of our debut album. This is our first splash into the music game. We want people to know we are the new players here and we are making noise.
