LYRICS:

Lately, I’ve been
Craving something
And I think it might just be you

So show me what I know
From a new perspective
Wherever this can go

Baby, just take it
Take it, I like it
All night and all-day
We’ll go

Take it, I like it
All night and all-day
We’ll go
Take it, I like it

All night and all-day
We’ll go
Take it, I like it

All night and all-day
We’ll go
Take it, I like it
All night and all-day
We’ll go

I can tell that you’re trouble
Nothing that I can’t handle
Got me a little high tonight

So show me what I know
From a new perspective
Wherever this can go

Baby, just take it
Take it, I like it
All night and all-day
We’ll go

Take it, I like it
All night and all-day
We’ll go

Take it, I like it
All night and all-day
We’ll go

Take it, I like it
All night and all-day
We’ll go

Take it, I like it
All night and all-day
We’ll go

I can do what you want me to boy
I can do what you want me to boy

Take it, I like it
All night and all-day
We’ll go

Take it, I like it
All night and all-day
We’ll go

Take it, I like it
All night and all-day
We’ll go

Take it, I like it
All night and all-day
We’ll go

Take it, I like it
All night and all-day
We’ll go

State the name of your producer and elaborate on the song.
I worked on “GO” with producer Jamie McArdle; I wrote “GO” about two years ago and though it is a pretty simple and fun song, revisiting this song for me was a reflection of who I was at that time. “GO” is written from the perspective of someone young and exploring newfound love. It is an upbeat song that has elements of disco and dance-pop.

Discuss the lyrics of the song.
“GO” was written from the perspective of someone young and exploring newfound love. This newfound love had the potential to go anywhere whether it was something serious or casual and “GO” is basically saying either one of those directions was fine.

Elaborate on your music career.
I began really writing songs when I was around fourteen because it was fun but I always knew music was something I wanted to take seriously in my future. Now, I’m twenty-three and I am just at the very early stages of my music career; I’ve now released two of what I would call official tracks or singles and I’m excited to see what is to come in the future. I have a lot of songs already written and more to write so I’m excited for those to be heard by the rest of the world.

Brief us on how you are reaching fans with your music.
I have been interacting with most of my listeners through social media platforms such as Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube. I hope that my songs bring my listeners a sense of comfort and joy through my music; that’s what music has done for me so I hope to continue to do that for others.

Discuss your motive behind making music.
It’s just something I truly love. The happiest moments in my life have always been when I’m listening to music, sharing music, writing music, or making music. It’s been a part of ‘who I am’ for so long that I can’t imagine a life without it. I want to make music for others to also capture moments of their lives with, to bring them comfort when needed.

Discuss your songwriting.
I write songs about things I’ve imagined, stories I’ve been inspired by, moments in my life, and whatever else pops into my head. Some songs take me a few minutes to write and others can take weeks or months but they’re all fun to do. In terms of style and genre… I don’t really like to tie myself down with just one genre of music; if I hear a style that I like then I want to explore it, understand it, and then do my own take on it.

Elaborate on your work and achievement so far in your music career.
I’m still in the early stages of my career but the fact there are people actually listening to my music makes me really happy and excited. There is a long way to go but I just want to share everything that there is to my music and me. So as long as I have someone listening then I am satisfied.

Tell us your opinion on using a rhymes dictionary or writing software to develop lyrics.
I don’t really have much of an opinion on this, to be honest…it’s not something I have used since it’s not my style to do so but I guess everyone has their own tactics and ways of writing lyrics so that’s up to them and their listeners.

Discuss the music industry.
It’s hard. I think it’s also a lot harder for some than for others which kind of sucks but I also think with social media platforms like TikTok a new aspect to music is opening. Platforms like TikTok are helping small artists grow a bit better than before but I think there is still a long way to go.

Elaborate on how you prepare yourself for a recording session.
I tend to sing better at night so throughout the day I like to warm up my voice by doing vocal exercises and making sure I avoid any foods that could potentially cause an issue to my vocals. I also spend a lot of time reviewing the song for any possible harmonies and adlibs to add.

Brief us on your preference in terms of tempo as in up-tempo, mid-tempo, or slow tempo.
I think I might have a little bit of a preference for a mid-tempo and slow tempo, I just find them more calming and comforting to listen to but up-tempo can be fine as well.

Discuss your shows or live performance.
I did start my music career during the middle of a pandemic so I haven’t had much of a chance to do live performances but I look forward to doing some in the near future!

“GO” is an upbeat disco-pop dance track by DMV’s independent pop/alternative R&B artist Helen. The nostalgic yet uplifting taste of “GO”, vastly different from Helen’s previous single “Forgive Me”, showcases yet another side to Helen’s unique sound and artistry. “GO” is a song that will put you in a better mood and won’t leave your head after the first listen.
Lyrically, the song is catchy and written from the perspective of someone young exploring newfound love. Written and co-produced by Helen, alongside producer Jamie McArdle, “GO” is the perfectly fitting song to play during the summer, especially late at night.

ARTIST’S WORDS:
“I wrote and produced parts of “GO” about two years ago while I was playing around with some sounds in my newly purchased Logic-Pro software. The words and melody honestly just came to me then and they weren’t lyrics that derived from a particular or personal experience, which made the whole process even more fun. Fast forward to 2021, I was looking through files to send over to Jamie and came across “GO” again and while listening to it I was reminded of the person I was at the time two years ago; it was interesting to me because this song that didn’t have much meaning back then now held precious memories and meaning to me. It felt like it was the perfect time to go ahead and officially release this song.”

Send a message across to your fans and supporters.
Thank you so much for listening to my songs and supporting me; it means the whole world and I can never thank you enough. I hope that you stick around for a long time and we can learn and grow together. I am excited to show you more of my work and hope you can cherish them as much as I do.

Tell us what makes this song unique from others.
It’s a fun light catchy song perfect for the summer!

Tell us the themes of most of your compositions.
A majority of my songs discuss relationships, whether they be romantic relationships, friendships, or even relationships with yourself. I get inspiration from my own life, stories I have seen or heard, and just my imagination. I like to explore different genres and try to have my own song or take on them.
