LYRICS:
Hold my head high

There’s a maze inside my mind
And I won’t ever break free
It keeps me in line and it
Seems that I can never leave

And there’s a heaviness in me
That I can’t seem to release

Hold my head high
I’ll keep going
In this war that I fight
Hold my head high
I’ll keep going
In this war that is me

Hold my head high
Hold my head high
Hold my head high

There’s a weight inside my chest
I feel every time I breathe
It keeps getting heavier
I just want to feel complete

And there’s a heaviness in me
That I can’t seem to release

Hold my head high
I’ll keep going
In this war that I fight
Hold my head high
I’ll keep going
In this war that is me

Hold my head high
Hold my head high
Hold my head high

Discuss the processing involved in creating a song.
It tends to vary quite considerably for me depending upon who I’m working with, what country they’re based in, and what style we’re going for. I tend to separate out the track process and the lyrics and topline process for most of the Glow Beets catalogue so that I can treat both of those elements differently.

Elaborate on the themes of most of your songs.
The overarching aim of the lyrics and feel of my music is hugely upbeat and feel good and ‘Hold My Head High’ is in keeping with that. EDM is about escapism for many others and myself. It’s about putting your headphones on, closing your eyes, and letting the song take you to anywhere in the world that you want to be. The lyrical theme of this song is about remaining upbeat in tough times, which feels relevant for so many millions of people right now in the pandemic.

Tell us your greatest musical works up to date.
‘Love Me Hate Me’ is my highest-streamed Glow Beets song so far which I co-wrote with Laurence Hobbs and Aimee Broom. I have a song out later this summer with Molly Morgan and Jack Rowan, which I’m really excited about. It’s called ‘Let Me Love You’ and it goes out on Kashcow Records (Warner Scandinavia). I think that one will do well, plus I’m alongside two of the fastest growing names in the European EDM scene on that one! I also produce for other artists and I have a big release with Yoshimoto in Japan also later this summer.

Tell us those behind your music process.
For the track, it’s just me or me usually although the track I just mentioned earlier is my first co-produced single with Jack Rowan. It was a lot of fun co-producing remotely between countries, as we would be constantly bouncing back edits until the track was where we wanted it to be.
In addition to being a producer, I’m also a songwriter, and more often than not I’m involved with the lyric and topline melodies on most of my songs although the one I’m talking about here today ‘Hold My Head High’ was one I didn’t write the lyrics or topline melody for.

Tell us your future goals and how you aim to accomplish them.
For the Glow Beets catalogue, it’s a case of keeping on walking on the same path I’m already on. I plan on releasing my debut EP later this year, which is called ‘Mind Games.’ In 2022, I plan on releasing another EP called ‘Based On True Stories.’ I will also be making some sample packs.

Tell us what you think has changed in the music industry.
Wow, that could be a long list ha-ha! It might be easier to talk about what hasn’t changed and that is the value of hard work, passion, being polite, and consistently creating. There’s constantly a heap of changes around us in this business. I’m not one to moan and groan about changes in the landscape because nobody learns by standing still in their comfort zone.

Tell the greatest mistake to avoid while making a song.
Giving up.

Explain the structure of the song.
I write a song backward usually. I start with the title and the resolve in the chorus B section and then write the chorus A section. Then I write the pre or build section before the story building the verses. I write songs in lots of different ways but that’s my go-to for structuring the process.

Discuss how the instruments come together for a song.
I write on either guitar or piano so that harmony is present. That gives stability and feel but without a genre-specific groove. After the vocal lines and lyrics are done I like to paint around them with all of the other instrumentation. I usually add drums last. If I add them first everything sounds great and it tricks the mind.

State your musical skills.
The guitar is my main instrument but I can turn my hand to most stringed instruments in one way or another when I apply myself. I also play keys, bass, drums, and harmonica.
Although saying that most things I do nowadays are programmed with keyboard performance and then manipulated inside a computer.

List the name of artists you cherish most.
Avicci
Bruce Springsteen
Bob Dylan

Tell us how you get inspiration.
I don’t wait for it to happen. I use techniques that bring it out in others and myself.

Elaborate on the song.
It’s an upbeat song that talks about the importance of self-belief in troubled times and how we must keep our heads held high. It’s a tropical house tune in its core.

Elaborate on your artist’s name and the title of the album.
‘Hold My Head High’ is the 3rd single from my forthcoming EP ‘Mind Games,’ which is set for release later in 2021. Glow Beets is the name of my act.

We are thrilled to announce the release of the summer single ‘Hold My Head High’ by UK EDM Producer Glow Beets. The Birmingham-based creator enjoyed a prolific 2020 releasing eleven singles in his debut year and has followed up with two highly streamed singles throughout spring 2021. ‘Hold My Head High’ is the third single of the year so far and will be available on all major streaming platforms on Friday 2nd July 2021.
Glow Beets has become known as a creator of positive and upbeat electronic music over the past couple of years and this sound mirrors the character of the man behind the brand Jonny Amos; who has penned some bright and colorful songs for a wide range of artists from all over the world.
‘Hold My Head High’ is an upbeat EDM track with elements of tropical house and electronic pop. The song features Glow Beets’ signature bouncy piano riffs and vocal chops but blends in some truly uplifting epic rises and falls which prosodically emphasizes the positive narrative of the lyrics.
‘Hold My Head High’ marks the third stage of a spring and summer release campaign for Glow Beets which will culminate in September 2021 with the release of his debut EP, ‘Mind Games,’ and for those shrewd to enough to have noticed this is Glow Beets’ third straight single to have mentioned either the word “mind” or “head” in its title which offers a strong indication as to the theme of the pending EP.
The Glow Beets brand was first created in 2019 with the launch of the Glow Beets Sample Label that released seven hugely popular sample packs for music creators in partnership with Sounds by Native Instruments, LANDR and Beatport Sounds… Glow Beets is now partnered with AWAL (Sony Music Entertainment) and looks forward to his new release schedule. “Each song is a part of a wider message around mental health awareness. This will be more evident once the Mind Games EP drops later in the year” Glow Beets said.
Glow Beets is the commercial alter-ego of hit songwriter and producer, Jonny Amos, who has penned songs for UK X Factor winner Shayne Ward, Euro-pop star Miss D (#1 in Portugal), Danish teen sensation Honik, US Soul starlet Jackie Paladino, UK electro-pop artist Hatty Keane, and J-pop stars Yoshimoto amongst others.
